Throughout my entire career in the fitness industry I have been asked questions about supplements that I think should be used. Whether to lose weight, gain weight or whatever, I have always included one thing in my answer: A good multi vitamin.
Vitamin and mineral supplementation is important because (and I’m going to get a lot of backlash for this) even vegan and whole food lovers that attempt to get all of their vitamins and minerals from the foods they eat most often end up lacking. One reason is the foods that we eat no longer have the potency in them that they used to because we have leached the soils so much. Another is that it takes way to much of the super foods to get enough of the nutrients into our bodies. AND the expense to do so and the time it takes out of your day to eat that much food becomes preventative.
And then there is this.
Septic tanks and sewer systems collect thousands of pounds of undigested vitamin and mineral pills on a regular basis. An example of this is in the sewer system in Tacoma, Washington, which filters out more than 250,000 pounds of undigested pills every six weeks. Do you really think you are getting your moneys worth with all those supplements?
Or how about this news from February 3, 2015
“The New York State Attorney General’s Office is demanding that GNC, Walmart, Walgreens, and Target remove store brand herbal supplements from their shelves after the pills were found to be packed with a strange array of fraudulent—and in some cases hazardous—ingredients. Popular supplements such as ginseng, valerian root, and St. John’s wort sold under store brand names at the four major retailers were found to contain powdered rice, asparagus, and even houseplants, while being completely void of any of the ingredients on the label.”
Bottom line. In order to see success in your fitness goals, proper diet and nutrition is 80% of your success. Supplementation is just that. Supplementation – a way to fill in the gaps. Vitamins and minerals help create an environment for change in your body. If you are going to spend money, make sure you are getting what you are paying for.
If you want what I believe is the absolute best vitamin on the market… Better than even the Multi-level vitamins on the market, go read the information on the link below. Some of the ingredients in this daily vitamin and mineral complex are not included in 90% of the brands out there simply because of the cost to manufacture them. Read the info and at least educate yourself.
